Job Description

Prommac is seeking qualified HSE Officers to support safe and compliant workplace operations. The role involves working with employees, supervisors, contractors and clients to ensure activities are carried out safely.

HSE Officers will monitor site activities, identify risks, conduct inspections and audits, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. They will also support HIRA processes, review permits and procedures, and assist with incident investigations.

The role includes delivering safety briefings, maintaining accurate records and promoting a strong safety culture. Candidates must hold SAMTRAC or a recognised Safety Diploma, have HIRA and investigation experience, and be registered with the SACPCMP.

This position suits responsible, observant professionals committed to maintaining safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct planned and unplanned workplace inspections
  • Monitor compliance with legislation, procedures and client standards
  • Facilitate HIRA activities and review task risk assessments
  • Support permit-to-work and safe-work control processes
  • Lead or participate in incident and near-miss investigations
  • Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Track HSE findings and actions through to closure
  • Present inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Maintain accurate HSE reports, registers and records
  • Engage employees and contractors on safe working practices
  • Escalate serious risks and stop unsafe work when necessary
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities

Requirements

SAMTRAC qualification or recognised Safety Diploma
Incident investigation training or demonstrated competence
HIRA training and practical risk assessment experience
Valid SACPCMP registration in the appropriate category
Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prepare accurate reports and maintain records
Confidence when addressing unsafe conditions or conduct
Ability to work effectively with employees and contractors
Responsible, ethical and safety-focused working approach
Willingness to work within operational site requirements
Supporting certificates and registration documentation
