Job Description
The Project Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of significant project packages. The role combines technical quantity surveying capability with strategic financial oversight.
Working under the Commercial Lead, the Project Quantity Surveyor will support Project Managers with financial forecasting, reporting, contractual administration and risk mitigation. This ensures projects maintain clear cost visibility while protecting contractual entitlements.
The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical work measurement as well as experience managing construction or engineering contracts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Operations team in managing contractual obligations
- Administer project contracts from commencement through to completion
- Manage contractual notifications, variations and compensation events
- Secure contractual entitlements in accordance with contract terms
- Administer contracts including FIDIC, NEC (3/4) and bespoke agreements
- Manage subcontract procurement, administration and final account settlement
- Lead financial delivery of projects through accurate cost management
- Compile detailed Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and cost reports
- Produce monthly financial forecasts and profitability updates
- Support financial planning through accurate cash flow forecasting
- Utilise internal financial systems to manage budgets and invoices
- Perform accurate measurement of project works
- Focus specifically on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services measurement
- Manage upstream payment applications to clients
- Ensure accurate certification and payment tracking
- Identify project commercial risks and support mitigation strategies
- Maintain compliance with contractual obligations and reporting standards
- Provide commercial insight to support responsible project delivery
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
5–10 years’ experience in quantity surveying within construction or engineering projects
Professional membership with MRICS or SACQS advantageous
Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
Ability to travel to project sites when required
Strong knowledge of measuring Mechanical and Electrical work packages
Experience administering FIDIC and NEC (3/4) contract suites
Ability to interpret bespoke contracts and commercial clauses
Proven experience producing detailed cost reports and forecasts
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools
Experience working with ERP or financial management systems
Strong organisational and time management capability
Ability to meet strict monthly reporting deadlines
Effective collaboration with Project Managers and Commercial Leads
Strong attention to detail and commercial accountability
